The working novel ... Hundred-Pocket Marriages by Lisa Mikitarian
The story of Tess, a wife and mother in a growing rural community. While teaching eighth graders about the pros of abstinence, she discovers young people don’t believe that lasting, joyful marriages are even a possibility anymore. How can she encourage them to “wait” for something they have no faith in? This puts Tess in a tailspin, and she sets out to examine her own marriage and fix the marriages of all her friends to prove the young people wrong.
This novel in progress, is the brainchild of Lisa Mikitarian, a contributing writer for Women in Journey. Lisa was an abstinence program presenter for many years, and the young people’s attitudes toward marriage felt like a tragic result of society run amok, mixed in with heavy Hollywood influence. She feels convicted that adults have
a responsibility to make the marriage covenant work, and that they should have fun in the process.
